President Rodrigo Duterte’s main priorities – the war on drugs and the anti-insurgency campaign – have been heavily criticized by many not just for widespread human rights violations, but also lapses that came to light in recent months.
A Rappler investigation found that there were efforts to stall the drug war case before the Supreme Court, based on the first submission by the Office of the Solicitor General of “rubbish” documents. These indicate that the violent campaign was poorly documented from the start.
Meanwhile, Davao Region and Davao City are set to receive billions from the National Task Force to End Local Communist Insurgency’s anti-communist funds.
On Thursday, February 25, the Newsbreak team will discuss these exclusive stories and tackle findings about the Duterte government, especially in the last year of the administration.
The discussion with multimedia reporters Lian Buan, Rambo Talabong, and Pia Ranada will be moderated by Newsbreak Chats host and multimedia reporter Camille Elemia.
